Formed in the summer of 2017 with the intention of combining ethereal textures with calming beats, Shoji has formed a sound that takes electronic, house influence (which comes from one half of the duo) and combines it with the folky songwriting flair of artists such as Bon Iver (which comes from the other half). ‘Bliss’ is an expertly produced piece which thrives on the interplay of electronic and organic sounds. The artistic use of autotune used to play out a catchy vocal melody contrasts the mellow synth sounds and beautifully clean ride cymbal to form the exact sound the London-based duo were going for. -Dan Peeke
